Overview
I have always thought of Cloud Research as Prolific’s little brother, since they both have a minimum hourly rate for their studies. Cloud Research claims that the median rate for their platform is above $10/hour, but this seems rather lofty in my experience.
The Good
- While there is a minimum hourly rate, most studies exceed it in an effort to get quality data quickly.
- You will NOT get screened out for any survey. You only see a study if you fit the target demographic.
- The payout threshold is low – you can cash out (to PayPal) starting at $5.
- There are bonuses for some studies (although they are not guaranteed and can take a long time to payout)
- Your Quality Score (a good one, anyway) can qualify you for more projects.
The Bad
- There is a waitlist. Go sign up for Cloud Research now!
- There is no mobile app, but the site works extremely well on mobile browsers.
- There are a fair number of studies that can only be completed on a computer.
- While they don’t require you to provide a photo ID for identity verification, this could prioritized you for some projects.
How I use Cloud Research
Cloud Research is the second tab on my browser right after Prolific. I toggle between the two and see which has studies for a higher reward per hour. From my experience, I do not receive as many studies from Cloud Research as Prolific (but your mileage may vary). However, on Cloud Research you can get studies from the Researcher “TrialByData” and these are by far my favorite to do on any platform.
The Jury Research Studies typically pay between $11-13 and while it says it takes about an hour, I found that while the first one took me that long, the subsequent ones took far less time.
Protip
Just like with Prolific, copy your Connect ID before you start any study, it just makes it easier to paste if they ask for it, which is common.
